| An enthusiastic crowd enjoyed singer-songwriter David Francey in Bearberry on Oct. 22. Many of his songs were from his new album “Late Edition” said to be a Juno award winner, to add to his 3 previous awards. Francey’s father and mother instilled in him a love of poetry and music from an early age. They emigrated from Scotland when Francey was 13. At 16, he hitchhiked and train-hoped across Canada and came to love this country. After a life in construction, Francey now tours across the land playing in the large cities and also enjoying playing in rural areas. We were very fortunate to have him in Bearberry! |

Porkbelly Futures - An enthusiastic crowd gave a standing ovation after the concert by Porkbelly Futures on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at the Bearberry Hall. This group describes themselves as "North Country - Canadian born and bred", a jazzy blues band. The members are - Paul Quarrington, vocalist and guitar (a Gov.-Generals award winning novelist, screen writer and songwriter); Martin Worthy (drummer), Chas Elliott (from the Toronto Symphony), Stuart Laughton (from Canadian Brass), and Rebecca Campbell (vocals). The Bearberry Audience was fortunate indeed to hear this remarkable group.
"Cock of the North" - it was a Celtic night with the 'Cock of the North' at the Bearberry Community Hall. This Band is organizing the yearly Water Valley Celtic Music Festival. The audience experienced the real Irish fiddle music and dancing while enjoying “Green Beer”, some Irish Whisky tasting and of course Irish Snacks.
This was the third concert of the Performing Arts Series 2009/2010 in Bearberry.
